An Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist can diagnose and provide medical and/or surgical care for patients with diseases that affect the ears, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. Our ears, nose, and throat consist of an interconnected system of tubes and passages. Therefore, many medical conditions in and around these areas are also interconnected. An ENT can perform surgery and treat many different medical conditions, including ear infections, hearing loss, difficulty swallowing, and snoring or obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Paul Sherrerd comes to Myrtue's Outpatient Specialty Clinic every Tuesday of the month. Paul Sherrerd, MD, received his medical training and completed his postgraduate training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He has been a private practitioner in Omaha since 1981, and in 1986, he founded Family ENT to provide comprehensive medical care to patients with various conditions. His practice includes a special interest in upper respiratory allergy disorders.

Dr. Sherrerd offers the following adult and pediatric ENT services:

• Sinusitis: Inflammation of the cavities around the nasal passages
• Tinnitus: Perception of ringing or other sounds in one or both ears
• Vertigo: Motion-related dizziness or sickness
• Allergic Rhinitis: Allergic reaction resulting in symptoms like itchy, watery eyes and sneezing
• Adenoidectomies (adenoid removal surgery): Procedure to remove a child's adenoid glands
• Pediatric Ear Infection Problems

Audiology + Hearing Services

Audiology is a healthcare specialty dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hearing and balance disorders. Audiologists assess hearing loss, tinnitus, and vestibular (balance) conditions across all ages and provide services such as hearing evaluations, hearing aid fitting, cochlear implant support, and rehabilitation to improve communication and quality of life.

Myrtue Medical Center is lucky to have an Audiologist who sees patients at our Outpatient Specialty Clinic. Dr. Ruth Farrington sees patients in Harlan every Tuesday. She comes from Family ENT and specializes in Audiology.
