Cydney and Eric Shriver, Harlan | October 2022
Cydney and Eric have one son, Ezra Keison.
Why did you decide to come to Myrtue Medical Center for your maternity needs?
I decided to come to Myrtue Medical Center because after meeting Dr. Kelly Anderson for the first time I knew I didn’t want to go anywhere else. Her kind, caring nature coupled with the fact she does ‘sneak peaks’ of the baby at every appointment made me feel special and cared for. Those ‘sneak peaks’ also really gave this first-time mama some peace of mind since I was able to see the baby at every appointment. The Birthing Center was another selling point for me. The one-on-one care and LDRP rooms were such great aspects of the whole birthing experience. I didn’t feel like ‘just another patient’. I felt heard and cared for through every aspect of pregnancy and delivery and was never put down for all my questions throughout the process. Lastly, the fact my choices for labor and delivery were respected made me feel like I was in control of how to welcome my son into this world.
Did you think our medical staff were knowledgeable and had good communication skills?
Yes! I never had any concerns or questioned anything the nurses or doctors did during pregnancy or delivery. They also did a great job of explaining everything they were doing and made sure I was okay with every step that was taken. When I arrived at the hospital, after my water broke, the nurse, Megan, taught me different stretches and techniques to help get the baby into the proper position and help me move along. Lena, the anesthesiologist, did amazing with my epidural and helped me stay calm by explaining every step of the process. While pushing, Dr. Anderson and all the nurses stayed so calm and chill which helped me stay calm as well. Lastly, after our son was born, every nurse answered all of my questions slowly and effectively and helped me get comfortable with being a first-time mom. Very happy with all the staff!
What experiences did you enjoy the most in our Birthing Center?
I loved that I was able to labor, deliver, and recover in the same room. We had stuff all over the place, so it was nice that I didn’t have to worry about moving rooms after my son was born. Otherwise, I loved all the little tiny things that were offered during my stay; an oil infuser, an extra comfort pad for the bed (I missed the bed once I got home), warm cookies during the day, the snack bar for my husband and visitors, Halo swaddle after my son got his first bath, and so much more! I loved the Birthing Center and our whole experience. We will for sure be coming back in the future!

Why did you decide to come to Myrtue Medical Center for your maternity needs?
I chose Myrtue Medical Center because of the personalized care. Also, I had recently moved from the city and I knew that I wanted something close to home. After my first visit with Dr. Kelly Anderson, I knew that I made the right choice with Myrtue. Dr. Anderson was genuine and caring. She listened and eased my mind as a first-time mom. I also toured the birthing center and loved the size of the rooms and how comfortable they felt. Shortly after my tour, I met with Cara Cacy, the lactation consultant. I was so pleased to learn that Myrtue had a lactation consultant on site. Cara was wonderful to work with pre and postpartum.
Did you think our medical staff were knowledgeable and had good communication skills?
I enjoyed working with the staff through all the stages of pregnancy and then through the delivery of my daughter. The nurses in the birthing center were all so helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. They were quick to assist and made sure to include my husband which was important to me.
What experiences did you enjoy the most in our Birthing Center?
It’s hard to pick a specific experience. The entirety of my stay was wonderful. If I had to pick something specific, it would be the time spent after my daughter was born via c-section. The nurses were so friendly, quick, and efficient to keep me comfortable and they ensured I had everything I needed for my recovery. Dr. Anderson was vigilant and checked in often. I felt comfortable and cared for throughout my entire stay.

Why did you decide to come to Myrtue Medical Center for your maternity needs?
We chose Myrtue Medical Center because of their new specialized OB/GYN, Dr. Kelly Anderson. She is incredibly knowledgeable, genuine, and down to earth. We were also given a tour of the birthing wing and thought the rooms were a good size, homey, and welcoming. We also enjoyed having the service of a lactation consultant. Cara Cacy, IBCLC, was very patient and kind. She provided her expertise to help me establish a good breastfeeding experience between me and my daughter.
Did you think our medical staff were knowledgeable and had good communication skills?
The nurses that cared for us were amazing! They were very personable, patient, and accommodating during our stay. They answered all of our questions, helped us with all of our new baby's needs, and made us laugh throughout our whole journey. We always looked forward to seeing if we had the same nurses the following day.
Additional remarks about Myrtue Medical Center?
For the care of our little girl Ayva, we chose our pediatrician, Dr. Sarah Devine. As a new mom, I appreciate Dr. Devine welcoming all questions with a kind and thorough response. We could not have asked for a better care team and felt exceptionally blessed with Myrtue's staff.
Jenny and Dillan Hamilton | March 2021
Jenny and Dillan have two children both of whom were delivered at Myrtue's Birthing Center.
Why did you decide to come to Myrtue Medical Center for your maternity needs?
We chose Myrtue for our pregnancy and delivery because it was close to home (half an hour), and we have always been treated with quality care by our doctors and nurses there. This was our second pregnancy and delivery at Myrtue, and we have all intentions to use Myrtue for any future pregnancies down the road.
Did you think our medical staff were knowledgeable and had good communication skills?
Dr. Bret Heileson and Nurse Steph were so patient and calm in all of our prenatal appointments. They listened to our questions and concerns and we felt like they took a genuine interest in who we were as people aside from the pregnancy. During labor and recovery, we absolutely cannot say enough good things about our nurses. They were so caring, calm, and down-to-earth.
What experiences did you enjoy the most in our Birthing Center?
The birthing center is so nice. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a nice bathroom. It felt more like a hotel than a hospital. For both pregnancies, we used the whirlpool room, and it helped with the pain in my lower back. The fancy meal they serve you before leaving is fun and thoughtful. Dillan probably most enjoyed the hospitality lounge full of free snacks, haha. But really, we probably most appreciated the individual care and attention we received from our nurses Megan and Ally. They were awesome. From coaching us through labor and delivery to taking our daughter for a few hours in the night so we could sleep, to constant care and encouragement in recovery, they were great. For both deliveries, we were lucky enough to be the only people on the floor.

I have always loved the small-town homey feel of Myrtue Medical Center and we have been cared for and treated like family every time we have come to the Birthing Center. During every stay, I have felt calm, supported, and at ease knowing myself and my babies were in the best hands!
Did you think our medical staff were knowledgeable and had good communication skills?
If a problem arose, there was never any doubt in my mind that the nurses and doctors would act quickly and communicate to provide the best care. They are constantly doing their best to keep me well informed at all times throughout my pregnancy and birthing experience.
What experiences did you enjoy the most in our Birthing Center?
I cannot recommend Myrtue Medical Center’s Labor and Birthing Center enough! From the moment we walked through the doors, I felt at ease. The care provided by everyone was exceptional, from the manager to all the nurses, and the doctor whom I trusted to deliver all three of my babies, Dr. Scott Markham.
