Myrtue Medical Center Welcomes New OB/GYN Kelly Anderson, DO, OB/GYN

(Harlan) – Myrtue Medical Center announces the addition of Kelly Anderson, DO, OB/GYN Physician. Dr. Anderson will be joining Myrtue Medical Center’s team of family medicine physicians and advanced-level practitioners who serve at Myrtue’s nationally recognized Critical Access Hospital and at its medical clinics. She began seeing patients in Myrtue’s Specialty Clinic on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020.

Dr. Kelly Anderson received her medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas Campus. Dr. Anderson completed her residency at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan where she served as Chief Resident Physician. As a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr. Anderson is extensively trained in women’s health and provides comprehensive OB/GYN services, including gynecologic care with annual exams, family planning, breast health and treatments for menopause. In addition, Dr. Anderson will provide prenatal, delivery, and postpartum women’s care.

“Dr. Anderson is a welcome addition to our team at Myrtue Medical Center, as we strive to bring the highest quality providers to our patients,” said Barry Jacobsen, Myrtue CEO. “She provides additional OB/GYN services that women may have traveled further from home to receive. This will expand options to women in our community.”

“There is something special about bringing new life in this world. I enjoy the emotions involved in being an obstetrician. Delivering babies creates an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. It’s fun to be there, in the moment, as families experience the joy of welcoming a new member to their family,” said Dr. Anderson. “In addition, I want my patients to feel comfortable talking to me about chronic, troublesome symptoms or potentially embarrassing topics. I am passionate about educating my patients on healthy lifestyles. I am here for a lifetime of care.”

Dr. Anderson says that she is excited to be a part of our small community, and she chose Myrtue Medical Center because of the people and the staff. “My husband and I both grew up in a small community. We want that same feeling for our family. We like the small town feel and the tight-knit families,” says Anderson.

When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Anderson enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, and their 1-year-old son. They look forward to making this community home.
