Myrtue Medical Center’s Economic Impact on Local Economy Tops $47.3 Million in 2025

Myrtue Medical Center is more than a healthcare provider—it is a major contributor to the local economy. According to a new report from the Iowa Hospital Association, the hospital generated $47.3 million in economic impact in 2025, supporting 898 local jobs. This economic impact extends beyond the people hired and the salaries paid. The business and household needs of hospitals and their employees create a multiplier effect that supports additional jobs. This means more than 146,000 total jobs are tied to Iowa hospitals, creating an impact worth nearly $24.8 billion to Iowa's economy.

The study, based on data from the American Hospital Association, shows that hospitals across Iowa have a total economic impact of more than $24.8 billion, employ over 146,000 Iowans, and deliver $10.4 billion in wages.
