Myrtue’s Learning for Life Event - Fishing for Fun

On Monday, May 8th, Myrtue Medical Center’s Public Health Department hosted Fishing for Fun, an annual collaboration with Christina Roelofs, Shelby County Conservation Naturalist, to encourage outdoor family activities! Learning for Life Parent Education and Support team members worked with community partners, such as Shelby County EMS, the Harlan Fire Department, the Shelby County Prevent Child Abuse Council, and the Harlan Lion’s Club to provide a fun evening of games and community resources to families with young children.

Learning for Life parent educators work with families to provide activities for children to promote development throughout the critical early years. Funding for Fishing for Fun was provided by the Harrison, Monona, and Shelby Decategorization Board. Learning for Life services are provided in part by the Harrison, Monona, and Shelby Early Childhood Iowa Board. If interested in parenting support for families with children <5 years of age, please contact Public Health at 712.755.4422.
