Learning for Life-Hearts and Hands Sewing

Starting in mid-September, Myrtue Medical Center’s Learning for Life program will provide “Welcome Baby” gift bags to each baby born at Myrtue Medical Center. A package of newborn diapers, wipes, a children’s book, and a homemade bib or burp cloth is inside each welcome bag. A partnership between Learning for Life and the Hearts and Hands Sewing Club helps provide homemade gifts, such as the burp cloth or bibs, for the “Welcome Baby” community-sponsored outreach and for families participating in Learning for Life programming.

Learning for Life promotes optimal early development, learning, and physical and mental health of children by supporting and engaging parents and caregivers. The Learning for Life services is provided at no cost to Shelby County families who are expecting a baby or have a child or children younger than kindergarten.
