LeRoy W. Hodges, MD

About LeRoy

LeRoy Hodges, MD, is a board-certified General Surgeon with 32 years of surgical field experience. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine. He also served in the Army Medical Corp and was on active duty during Desert Storm.

During his career, Dr. Hodges has served at small and large health systems, including Mayo Clinic Health System, where he also was Department of Surgery Chair. He has worked in health systems in Minnesota, Georgia, and Alabama, before coming to Myrtue Medical Center.

As a general surgeon, Dr. Hodges performs a variety of surgeries and procedures, such as advanced laparoscopic surgery, cancer surgery of the breast and colon, bowel obstructions, perforated ulcers, appendicitis, gallbladder disease, colonoscopy, stomach scopes, chronic wound care, and many other procedures.

“I believe the best interest of the patient is my guiding principle,” said Dr. Hodges. “I am committed to explaining to patients the complicated issues that they need to know and understand to be a well-informed participant in their healthcare.”

Dr. Hodges and his wife, Kathleen, have seven children; Matthew, Jessica, Nicholas, Mercedes, Alexander, Hannah, and Abigail. He is looking forward to returning to the Midwest and making this community home.
