- Categories: Community Health
About This Event
- Event Type:Lunch & Learn
Don’t miss this opportunity to better understand lead poisoning and how you can positively affect the health of your child and the health of the community. Limited to 30 people and lunch will be provided for registered attendees.
WHY: 82% of homes in Shelby County were built before 1978, making them a potential source of lead-based paint poisoning. This data point puts many children at risk for lead exposure in our local communities.
WHAT: This educational opportunity will share information on populations at-risk for lead poisoning, sources of lead in the home, symptoms of lead poisoning, and health consequences of lead exposure. Additionally, you will learn about ongoing childhood lead testing expansion, remediation opportunities, including financial support, to remove lead from homes, and nutritional recommendations to address lead exposure.
