Postpartum Care: How Medical Alert Bracelets and Early Warning Systems Save New Mothers' Lives

Research shows new mothers are at-risk for sometimes life threatening complications after childbirth. Since 2022, Myrtue Birthing Center and Clinics have issued teal medical alert bracelets to OB patients who are at higher risk for postpartum difficulties. The medical alert bracelets allow for a visual notification to paramedics and/or hospital staff to look for postpartum health related concerns.

Myrtue Birthing Center schedules 3 and 7 day postpartum blood pressure checks for their OB patients who are at higher risk for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Early and regular prenatal care by a skilled obstetric provider who will develop appropriate care thorough out pregnancy and after delivery is vital for a woman’s health.

All obstetric patients at Myrtue Medical Center are given information on the POST-BIRTH Warning Signs to know when to seek medical attention if experiencing any concerning symptoms. Our goal is to provide life-saving interventions as quickly as possible.
