Low Milk Supply Specialization

Jennifer Bruck, ARNP, and Cara Cacy, RN, IBCLC, are both recognized as low milk supply healthcare providers. They have completed courses dedicated to learning more about the root causes of low milk supply and ways to treat these causes.

Jennifer Bruck was formerly a NICU nurse for 10 years, provided family practice medicine for 8 years, and is currently enrolled in an advanced degree in the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program to serve our community through Myrtue's Women's Health Center.

Cara brings over 14 years of experience to every lactation consultation with extensive lactation education. She will assess latch, feeding techniques, infant weight gain, and milk transfer to identify potential issues like poor latch or ineffective nursing.

After Cara’s overall assessment of the breastfeeding couplet, she will refer to Jennifer for recommended labs to be drawn to assess underlying medical or physiological factors, such as hormonal imbalances, insufficient glandular tissue (IGT), or postpartum complications that may contribute to low supply. Together, they will assess and evaluate those results to help find the reason for your low milk supply.

Based on their findings, they will create a tailored plan for your specific situation. This may include improving latch, increasing feeding frequency, using breast pumps, or recommending specific supplements or medications.

Beyond practical and medical advice, Jennifer and Cara will provide encouragement and reassurance, helping parents feel confident and supported during their breastfeeding journey through follow-up care by addressing both physical and emotional aspects. Our Low Milk Supply Healthcare providers want to empower parents to optimize milk production and achieve their specific breastfeeding goals.
