The Difference between Cold and Allergy Symptoms

As the days get warmer and flowers start to bloom, the spring allergy season is growing near. This can make it difficult to distinguish the signs of a common cold from those of seasonal allergies. A good starting point is knowing which symptoms are typically associated with each condition, although there is some overlap. Please take a look at the following chart to compare cold and allergy symptoms.

One major distinction is the duration of your symptoms. If you have been experiencing symptoms for 3 or more weeks, it may be time to see an allergist or ENT. Of course, the only way to get a confirmed diagnosis and referral is by discussing it with your primary care provider first. You can schedule an appointment by calling 712.755.4516.
