Car Seat Safety with Learning for Life

Car Seat Safety with Learning for Life

Myrtue Community Health’s Learning for Life program collaborated with Petersen Motors in Harlan this week for a car seat and vehicle safety inspection. Petersen Motors generously provided their services and facilities to examine vehicle fluids, wipers, and tire pressure for each participant's vehicle. Additionally, they addressed any issues identified with each family.

Our Learning for Life Parent Educator and Certified Car Seat Technician, Amy Hoffmann, inspected each participant's car seat to ensure it was installed correctly. She also verified that each child had the appropriate seat for its age and size. In cases where adjustments were needed, Amy clarified these to the parent and guided them in installing the seats correctly.

Myrtue’s Learning for Life program aims to enhance the early development, learning, and overall well-being of children by involving and assisting parents. This program is offered free of charge to families in Shelby County with expectant mothers or children aged from 0 to kindergarten. The Shelby County Community Chest and a Grant for LFL generously provided the funding for this initiative from Harrison, Monona, and Shelby Early Childhood Iowa.
