Behavioral Health Department

The Department of Behavioral Health's mission is to provide community based services to individuals, families and groups to promote mental, physical and spiritual well being.

The Behavioral Health staff works closely with local physicians, school officials, human service agencies, hospitals, nursing homes, and clergy in the community. The Department offers a wide range of mental health services, including diagnostic evaluation, psychotherapy, marriage and family counseling. A psychiatrist, a family physician, or nurse practitioner in consultation with other health staff manages medication. The Department also offers a variety of community programs, educational services, vocational counseling, and consultations ito individuals, families, agencies and community groups. Specialized supportive group programs are offered periodically through the Department.

The Behavioral Health Department is accredited by the State of Iowa Department of Human Services to provide outpatient therapy and counseling, evaluations, emergency services, and the Supported Community Living program.

No person, regardless of age, gender, sexual preference, race, national origin, or religious affiliation will be denied necessary mental health services.
