EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGSThe Educational Services department at MMC offers a wide variety of programs available to the community. Among them are:
COMMUNITY CPR CLASSES2008 Schedule: January 23, February 20, March 20, April 22, May 21, and June 26. All classes are held from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the Auble Conference Room of the hospital. FIRST AID CLASSESNext class is scheduled for January 3 from 6:30-10 PM in the hospital Prairie Room. Advanced registration is required for these classes. Call (712) 755-4417. Class size is limited to 6 participants. Price includes textbook.
CHILDBIRTH CLASSESClick here to see our new brochure! Regular classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Auble Conference Room of Myrtue Medical Center. Fast-track classes are held on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm also in the Auble Room. Classes include the following topics: relaxation and breathing techniques, active and transition phases, birth class, relaxation and breathing review, cesarean section delivery and interventions, and sample labor, postpartum and newborn characteristics. Please bring two bed pillows to class. Husbands or partners are encouraged to attend all classes. Cost for the sessions is $45 per individual or couple. A refresher course is available for $30 to those who have previously attended classes. (Financial assistance is available.) Instructors are Viriginia Kruse, Certified Childbirth Educator and Shelley Jackson, RN, BSN, Certified Childbirth Educator. Advanced registration is requested for these classes. SIBLING CLASSESClick here for our new brochure! Take a tour of the OB Department, Nursery, and Birthing rooms. Lots of hands-on activities including coloring, story time and see and touch a newborn baby. Class time is 6:00-7:00 pm. There is no charge for this class. Instructor is Deb Jauron, LPN. INFANT NUTRITION CLASSESClick here for our new brochure! Compare the pros and cons of breastfeeding and bottlefeeding and help in evaluating what will be the best method for you and your baby, includes breastfeeding technique. Discusses newborn through first year of life dietary guidelines. Class meets 7:00-8:30 pm in the hospital Prairie Room. There is no charge for this class and snacks will be provided.
