EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS

The Educational Services department at MMC offers a wide variety of programs available to the community. Among them are:

 

COMMUNITY CPR CLASSES

2010 Schedule: March 16, April 12, May 19, and June 7

All classes are held from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the Auble Conference Room of the hospital.  Advanced registration is requested for these classes. Call (712) 755-4417.  Prices vary with level of certification needed.

 

FIRST AID CLASSES

Classes are held in the hospital Prairie Room. Advanced registration is required for these classes. Call (712) 755-4417.  Call for dates.  Class size is limited to 6 participants.  Price includes textbook.

 

CHILDBIRTH CLASSES

Regular classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Auble Conference Room of Myrtue Medical Center. Fast-track classes are held on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm also in the Auble Room. Classes include the following topics: relaxation and breathing techniques, active and transition phases, birth class, relaxation and breathing review, cesarean section delivery and interventions, and sample labor, postpartum and newborn characteristics. Please bring two bed pillows to class. Husbands or partners are encouraged to attend all classes. Cost for the sessions is $45 per individual or couple. A refresher course is available for $30 to those who have previously attended classes. (Financial assistance is available.) Instructors are Virginia Kruse, Certified Childbirth Educator and Shelley Jackson, RN, BSN, Certified Childbirth Educator. Advanced registration is requested for these classes. SIBLING CLASSES

Take a tour of the OB Department, Nursery, and Birthing rooms. Lots of hands-on activities including coloring, story time and see and touch a newborn baby. Class time is 6:00-7:00 pm.
